Angie Albright

Angie is the mother to one son, and currently the Executive Director at the Northwest Arkansas Women’s Shelter. She has been in northwest Arkansas for over 20 years after growing up in Iowa. Her educational background includes many years of graduate work in English and education, which she put to use as an English professor first at Georgia Southwestern State University and then at NWACC. Her specialties include African-American literature and culture, world religions, world culture, American studies, and leadership. Along the way she accumulated numerous publications in a variety of genres.

The moment she accepted the position as Executive Director at the shelter, she knew she was in the right place. She loves being able to directly serve victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their families. She believes that while the need in our community is great, the generosity in the community is even greater. She leaves every agency or organization meeting amazed at how many people are working so hard to serve so many.
